Our expedition team crosses the lower Bigo Bog, avoiding the muddy morass (and preventing damage to the fragile bog ecosystem) by using a newly constructed boardwalk. In the foreground stands a Giant lobelia (Lobelia bequaertii). The flowers of these plants can reach more than four meters tall. It can take decades for the plant to flower. I lived in Southern Italy for more than two years. During that time, I bought a small rubber dingy (in the photo) and spent much of my time exploring the amazing Gargano Coast. With camera gear ready, Neil travels through the palm-rich cloud forests of El Yunque National Park, Puerto Rico. We spent about a week in Puerto Rica conducting research on anoles and filming bat-eating snakes.
